Group support services

We offer a range of support services including those mentioned below. If you would like to know more about how we may be able to help you or someone you know, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Association Visitors

We provide practical support through our trained Association Visitors who keep in regular contact by telephoning and/or visiting people in their homes.

Support Meetings

The group holds regular support meetings the first monday of every month from 10.30am - 12.15pm at the Rowan's Living Well Centre, Purbrook Heath Road, Waterlooville PO7 5EW.

Phoenix Group

Phoenix is an informal group of people who have lost their partners to MND. We usually meet on the third Wednesday of the month for a meal at the Chairmakers Arms (PO7 4QX). It is an informal support group. No two experiences will ever be the same but there are common threads and difficulties encountered by us all. Do not think that this is a sad or depressing meeting. Yes, there are times when we need to express emotions - but that is part of the support. The majority of the time there is laughter and an exchange of experiences. If practical challenges are being encountered we may be able to help each other.

Some members continue to attend the monthly meeting. It is a way of touching base with each other and hopefully our presence will make us more accessible when your time comes. Phoenix will continue to be informal. Support outside of the meal is up to the individuals concerned. There is no obligation or commitment required - although we do like to know that everyone is alright. Each member will move through the bereavement process in a different way and there may come a time to leave Phoenix behind.

How Phoenix will develop only time will tell. If you would like to join us I can be reached via the contact email: ann.pearson@live.com Feel free to turn up at the Chairmakers but there is a possibility of a change of venue. Being informal we are free to adapt and change what we do.
